In this project we developed an Android application for connecting to VLC Media Player. This application can remotely control VLC Media Player, browse local media and gather metadata on that media. Directories can be automatically searched through to find media and associated metadata. Media can then be viewed and searched through in a grid of poster images or a list of titles. Details of each item can be viewed including plot, actors, ratings, trailers and more. Directories, searches and playlists can all be bookmarked for quick access later. Users can also search YouTube and play videos on the connected media player.
